The Catalina Highway Pillow, designed by Mary Ann Stephens, is a Fair Isle style pillow cover knitting project worked in a DK weight gauge by holding two different colors of Jamieson's Shetland Spindrift jumper / fingering weight yarn together throughout. The sample shown is a steeked, garter-stitch-bordered, zippered 20! square pillow with the same chart work on both sides. The pattern presumes you're familiar with Fair Isle knitting; beyond that, it includes all the very detailed instructions, with photos, and the exclusive colorized chart you'll need to make the pillow shown. There are also brief notes on how to make a simpler, no-border, no-steek 18! version, plus suggestions for making two 20! fabric-backed pillows.
Twelve different colors of Spindrift were used in the design. The yarn pack gives you a total of twenty 25g balls of Spindrift - the same amount you'll need to recreate the one pillow shown (or two fabric-backed pillows.)
Fair Isle pillow cover with Southwestern flair to be knit in 12 colors of Jamieson's Shetland Spindrift, doubled.
